Thornhill Train Station opened in 1850 and eventually closed in 1965.

Re-opening

Dumfries and Galloway Council are currently seeking funding in order to re-open Thornhill, Eastriggs and Bettock Train Stations.

73% of locals in Thornhill regarding that the reopening of the station is "essential".

Trains still pass through the station regularly, as it is on the line between Dumfries and Carlisle.

There is also an action group setup for repopening of the station.
